The track-laying work of the Golmud-Korla Railway linking Golmud City in northwest China's Qinghai Province and Korla City in neighboring Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region came to full completion on Tuesday. The 1,213-kilometer-long railway runs through a high-wind area and cold depopulated zone. Upon completion, the time between Korla to Golmud will be reduced to 12 hours from the original 26 hours. The Golmud-Korla Railway will open to traffic on schedule at the end of October.
