Chinese President Xi Jinping and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud recently exchanged congratulatory messages on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries. 

In his message, Xi pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 30 years ago, China-Saudi Arabia relations have developed steadily and bilateral cooperation in various fields has achieved fruitful results.  

Xi said China and Saudi Arabia have established a comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years, and the development of bilateral relations has entered a fast track.  

At present, China and Saudi Arabia are working together to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, protect the health of the people of the two countries, and safeguard global and regional public health security, he noted. 

Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Saudi Arabia relations, and is willing to work with King Salman to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to promote the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Saudi Arabia's 2030 vision, enrich the strategic connotation of bilateral relations, and continue to make new achievements in bilateral ties in the new era to benefit the two countries and their peoples. 

King Salman said over the past 30 years, Saudi Arabia and China have achieved tremendous development in various fields, which reflects the deep friendship and high level of strategic relationship between the two countries.  

He said he is willing to promote the continuous development of this special relationship and serve the common interests of the two countries and the two peoples.  

Saudi Arabia and China share the same or similar views on how to deal with the pandemic, and Saudi Arabia is willing to work with China to fight the virus, he said, adding that Saudi Arabia looks forward to more cooperation with China to promote the realization of regional and world security and stability.
