The World Health Organization (WHO) on Monday welcomed progress in research on COVID-19 vaccines but warned there was still much work to be done. Mike Ryan, head of the WHO's emergencies program, welcomed news that AstraZeneca's experimental vaccine developed with Britain's Oxford University was safe and produced an immune response in early-stage clinical trials in healthy volunteers.
