Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected northeast China's Jilin Province on Wednesday. In Lishu County in Siping City, Xi visited a green food raw material production base and a farmer's agricultural machinery cooperative. He learned about food production conditions, the protection and utilization of black soil, and large-scale operations of agricultural mechanization. Xi later visited the Siping Battle Memorial Hall, where he relived history of the revolution and remembered revolutionary martyrs.

Xi also visited Jilin Province in July 2015 and September 2018. In April 2016, the central government rolled out new measures to revitalize the region that was struggling with industry decline, falling investment and a daunting business environment. Reforms were carried out, with a series of supporting policies, leading to streamlined administrations and an improved business environment. In 2019, Jilin Province had a bumper harvest of grains. The area's total output edged up 2.45 billion kilograms to reach 38.78 billion kilograms on a yearly basis, with the net growth leading the country by constituting 41.2 percent of its total increase.
