Henan Jianye and Jiangsu Suning scored seven goals in total in the game on Sunday night – the most of the first round. Henrique Dourado helped Henan lead 2-0 with two goals in the 6th and 47th minutes. Nonetheless, Jiangsu responded with four goals in 18 minutes from the 61st to the 79th minute, thanks to Xie Pengfei, Eder Martins, Ivan Santini and Wu Xi. Meanwhile, though Alex Teixeira did not score directly, he deserves credit as he assisted Xie to get the first goal and earned the penalty kick made by Martins. Though Ke Zhao made it 4-3 with an outstanding long shot in the 80th minute, his efforts came too late to make any difference.

In the last game on Sunday night, Beijing Guoan defeated Chongqing Lifan 2-1 while playing 10-11 after 25 minutes. Li Lei marked his 100th game for Guoan with an astonishing volley.

The first and second halves of the CSL game between Dalian Professional and Shandong Luneng Taishan on Sunday were very different. The two teams kept missing opportunities in the first half, getting nothing on either of the sides. However, after Mario Rondon scored the first for Dalian in the 57th minute, goals started pouring in like dishes in a buffet. In the 78th, 83rd and 86th minutes respectively, Marouane Fellaini scored three goals in a row for Shandong, all via headers. It took the Belgian only eight minutes to complete a hat trick and reverse the situation for his team. Though Marcus Danielson scored the second goal for Dalian in the injury time, it was too late for Dalian to avoid loss in their season opener.

Shenzhen F.C. achieved victory in their first CSL game after knocking down Guangzhou R&F 3-0 in Dalian. Chinese national team striker Gao Lin scored two goals in the first and second halves, respectively. His teammate Harold Preciado made a penalty kick in the 61st minute after video assistant referee (VAR) reminded the referee to change his judgment. Sunday's win was a good start for Shenzhen's new season as the promoted new member of the top league.

In the Hebei Durby between Hebei China Fortune and Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in Suzhou, the two teams finished the competition 2-2. Ricardo Goulart, who joined Hebei on loan and only trained with his new teammates for a week, was involved in both of the team's goals. His header pass in the 46th minute helped Marcao tie the score 1-1. Then in the 62nd minute, Goulart's free kick was stopped by Shijiazhuang's goalkeeper, who yet failed to hold the ball. Dong Xuesheng followed up fast to put the ball into the goal. Four minutes later, Matheus Leite Nascimento scored to make 2-2 for Shijiazhuang. However, Hebei should find the result acceptable considering that their back Ding Haifeng got a red card in the first half and the team played for over an hour with one player less on the field.
