China's software industry registers 6.7% growth in revenue in H1

China's software industry has posted year-on-year revenue growth of 6.7 percent during the first half the year, showing positive resumption of work and production, said the country's industry and information authority on Friday.

During the first half of 2020, the country's software industry reached a business revenue of 3.56 trillion yuan (about 508 billion U.S. dollars), an increase of 6.7 percent year on year, and 12.9 percentage points higher than the first quarter of the year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Profits growth turns to positive

The growth of profits has turned from negative to positive. In the first half of the year, the industry realized a total profit of 424.1 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 percent, reversing the negative trend in the previous five months.

Software exports also recovered steadily. In the first half of the year, exports in the software industry totaled 22.3 billion U.S. dollars, down 0.4 percent year on year, narrowing 12.8 percentage points compared with that in the first quarter, said the ministry.

Meanwhile, the service outsourcing industry registered a year-on-year growth of 4.6 percent in exports during the period, data showed.

Chinese firms signed service outsourcing contracts worth about 679.53 billion yuan in the first half of the year, up 5.9 percent year on year, the commerce ministry said.
