SIFF's China Movie & TV Night cheers for film and TV industry

2020 China Movie & TV Night, an important event of the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF), was held at Shanghai International Media Port on Sunday evening.

The star-studded event focused on promoting outstanding new releases of films and TV dramas this year and cheered for the domestic film and television industry that has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

Yan Xiaoming, vice president of China Media Group (CMG), and Zhou Huilin, member of the Standing Committee and director of the Publicity Department of Shanghai Committee of the CPC, delivered speeches during the event, expressing their support for China's motion picture industry and their hope to make SIFF a world-class film festival.

Chinese film director, actor and producer Xu Zheng and Chinese actress Yao Chen attended the event as promotion ambassadors, and celebrities including Wang Junkai, Yan Ni, Zhang Kaili, Liang Jing, Yu Haoming and popular livestreaming star Wei Ya presented the works.

Altogether four films, three TV dramas and two animated films were showcased. Among them, TV drama "Together," starring Xi Meijuan, Zhang Meng and Zhang Yunlong, depicts the real-life stories that took place in China during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The event was organized by CMG's Shanghai Bureau, and renowned CCTV anchors Li Sisi and Nëghmet Raxman hosted the event.

This year's SIFF is being held from July 25 to August 2, with over 320 films to be screened in Shanghai, among which 232 are world, international, Asian or Chinese premieres.
