U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, on Thursday, said, "distrust and verify" will be America's new policy towards China. "The relations between China and the United States in the past 40 years had been very important for the two countries," said Teng Jianqun, director of the American Studies Department at the China Institute of International Studies. Teng added that if politicians in Washington would like to go to the cold war with China, they are not likely going to make it, citing the impact of globalization of world economy and multi-polarization of international politics. China's relations with the U.S. are different from those between the U.S. and the former Soviet Union, said Teng.
