Founded in 1900, the Philadelphia Orchestra is renowned for a long and distinguished history of touring the world. In 1973, the orchestra pioneered cultural exchanges with China at the request of then U.S. President Richard Nixon, becoming the first American orchestra to make a tour to the People's Republic of China. Music was at the heart of it all, winning fans in China. While the artistry of the Philadelphia Orchestra carried away the audience, a few were enjoying the musical moment for its historical significance. CGTN host Tian Wei gets up close and personal with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra about their groundbreaking performance in China way back in 1973.
