The fitness industry has been battered by the coronavirus pandemic, leaving hundreds of thousands without jobs while gyms are closed.

On July 27, the International Health and Racquet & Sportsclub Association sent a letter to U.S. Congress describing job losses and long-term effects of the pandemic on the industry.

According to the letter, the industry is estimated to have lost 7 billion U.S. dollars in revenue as of July 1.
