Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi has hailed the sound momentum of China-Japan relations, and said he hopes to enhance cooperation and communication with joint efforts during a phone conversation with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on Wednesday.

During the call, Wang called for all-level exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the "post-epidemic era," stressing that China has taken a series of measures to help Japanese enterprises resume operations, and Wang hoped the Japanese side could also provide fair and transparent environment for Chinese enterprises.

Noting the close cooperation and mutual support during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wang called on the two sides to keep the sound momentum and work jointly to push forward cooperation and communication in regional affairs.

Both China and Japan are supporters of multilateralism and free trade, and Wang said the two sides should continue to support the World Trade Organization and speed up the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and talks on a China-Japan-ROK FTA.

He wished for the two sides to handle differences through the right channels, and focus on win-win cooperation so as to push forward bilateral ties in the correct direction.

Motegi echoed Wang's comments by stressing that Japan welcomes broader exchanges with China at all levels.

According to him, Japan is willing to continue to strengthen business and economic cooperation with China, and will strive to accelerate the implementation of the RCEP.
