China is determined to win the battle against poverty this year as scheduled despite adverse impact by the COVID-19 epidemic. What's the biggest challenge of China's poverty alleviation mission this year? What poverty reduction experiences can China share with other developing countries? And how does China cooperate with ASEAN countries on poverty alleviation?

Su Guoxia, director general of the General Affairs Department for the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development, was interviewed by CGTN on July 20, 2020, in Beijing after the 2020 Extraordinary ASEAN-China Social Development and Poverty Reduction Forum. "We've launched the Pilot Project of Poverty Reduction Cooperation in East Asia under our country's national foreign aid framework. These projects are mainly conducted in Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. We selected some poor villages in these countries to promote the development of the whole village in accordance with China's experience, helping them upgrade the village's infrastructure, public services and facilitate their industries," said Su.
