CDC director says U.S. was slow to recognize threat from Europe

U.S. CDC Director Robert Redfield said the U.S. was two to three weeks behind in recognizing the European threat of COVID-19. President Donald Trump trumpeted the decision to close the border with Europe as timely, but the coronavirus was already widespread in New York City at that time.
