Construction for the south section of the China-Russia East-Route Natural Gas Pipeline started on Tuesday, marking new progress in the two countries' energy cooperation aimed at enhancing the capacity of natural gas supply in the Yangtze River Delta. The project is divided into three sections: north, central and south. The key part of the south section involves the construction of an underwater tunnel that passes through the Yangtze River.
