The Ruoergai Wolf Ecological Protection Monitoring Station was inaugurated in the Ruoergai National Wetland Park in the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province on Wednesday.

This is the first monitoring station aiming to protect wild wolves in the province.

Wolves are a key species in the local ecological chain and are important for maintaining ecological balance.

Wolves live in forests and grasslands, mainly in the Ngawa Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture and the Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. There are about 200 wolves in Ruoergai County.
