Into Tibet 2020: The Saka Dawa Festival
01:20

The Saka Dawa Festival is held throughout April on the Tibetan calendar. On the most important day of the festival, people come to the mandala with incense sticks to pray. The month is said to commemorate the Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana. Followers believe they can acquire far more merit and virtue than usual in the month by reciting scriptures, doing good deeds and freeing captive animals.
