An Egyptian government official has invited Tesla CEO Elon Musk to visit the country's Great Pyramid of Giza to explore the real history of the famed structures after the tech tycoon tweeted that aliens built the historic landmark.

"Aliens built the pyramids obv," Musk tweeted on July 31. And whether he was serious or not, as of August 3, the tweet had been retweeted more than 86,700 times.

In response, Egypt's Minister of International Co-operation Rania Al-Mashat tweeted and saying her respect for Elon Musk and his work, and inviting him and his SpaceX to investigate the written record of how the pyramid was built. And also check out the tombs of the pyramid builders.

"Mr. Musk, we are waiting for you," at the end of her tweet, Al-Mashat posted a rocket emoji.

Besides, Musk's claim has made some Egyptian culture scholars uneasy. Zahi Hawass, an Egyptian archaeologist, Egyptologist, and former Egypt Minister of State for Antiquities Affairs, also posted two short videos on Facebook, recorded in Arabic and English, in which he noted that Musk's claim was completely an illusion. Hawass also listed two pieces of evidence to simply prove humans made the pyramid.

After being questioned by many, Musk doesn't directly reply or accept Al-Mashat's offer, but it seems he continues to pick up some online sources about how the pyramids were built.

"The Great Pyramid was the tallest structure made by humans for 3,800 years. Three thousand, eight hundred years." Musk tweeted on August 1.

The article discusses how most archaeologists believe that the Great Pyramid was built by 4,000 main laborers and supported by 16,000 to 20,000 secondary workers, who worked for more than 20 years.

The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu, is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex. According to the BBC, among more than 100 surviving pyramids in Egypt, it is the most famous one standing at more than 137 meters.

Egyptologists believe the pyramid was the second pharaoh of the Fourth Dynasty Khufu's tomb, based on markings on a wall of a tomb.
