A finless porpoise protection team has resumed their daily patrols in the Poyang Lake, east China's Jiangxi Province, as floodwaters recede. 

All six members used to be professional fishermen before Jiangxi banned fishing in the lake. Their job is to help remove illegal fishing net and electronic equipment, and educate local people on the importance of the animal to the environment.

The animal is under first-class protection in China, and there are 457 of these mammals in the Poyang Lake, accounting for almost half of the total number in the country.
