China's top legislature has begun discussing a draft revision to the law on animal epidemic prevention, in a move to establish a cooperative mechanism for the prevention of zoonoses – diseases or infections that are transmissible from animals to humans.

The draft has been presented for deliberation by legislators for the second time at the regular session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), which opened on Saturday.
