Nyingchi prefecture has the lowest altitude in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Unlike other prefectures in Tibet, such as Lhasa, Shigatse, Shannan, Ngari, where there are not many plantations, Nyingchi is full of different kinds of plants. The most famous landscape in Nyingchi is its vast sea of peach blossoms in spring. To attract more tourists, locals held the first Nyingchi Peach Blossom Festival in 2002. The annual festival continues today and has become a symbol of Nyingchi tourism.
