Guanzhong Old Street, a commercial pedestrian street located in Yingshang County, east China's Anhui Province, was seen bustling with visitors on Wednesday. As the floods finally recede, local residents are gradually returning to normal life.

Sitting at the confluence of the Huaihe River and Yinghe River, Yingshang County was faced with a grim flood situation as the Huaihe River Commission of the Ministry of Water Resources raised the emergency response for flood control to the highest level on July 20. The same day, the county put three flood storage areas into use within four hours — an unprecedented move in the history of fighting floods in the region.

Now, as the water level dropped, the ancient street was able to welcome locals again. With Chinese red lanterns hanging above, Guanzhong showcases the cultural charms of the county through a variety of performances and events.

Known as the first ancient water street in the northern part of the province, Guanzhong features architectural style of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties in Chinese history.
