A stranded Japanese ship off the coast of Mauritius has leaked about 1,000 tons of crude oil into the island's once-pristine waters, destroying its coral reefs and polluting its ecosystem. Urgent efforts have been intensified to empty the vessel before it succumbs to high winds and waves, splitting in two.
