Mekkhala, the sixth typhoon this year, has left a trail of destruction inundating towns, tumbling houses, wrecking vehicles and downing trees in Zhangzhou City, east China's Fujian Province. With a maximum wind force of 33 meters per second near its center, Mekkhala landed in coastal areas, bringing gales and torrential rains. Repair work is underway for damaged power facilities that affected some 60,000 households.
