Many parts of China are bracing for some extreme weather over the coming days. Violent rainstorms are expected in some northern areas and the southwestern Sichuan Province, while a typhoon has already hit the southeastern Fujian Province. The cities of Beijing and Tianjin as well as the provinces of Hebei and Liaoning will bear the brunt of rainstorms in the north. More than 400 flights and dozens of bus routes have been canceled in the nation's capital. Nearly 200 tourism spots are closed. The capital has prepared for what looks like the strongest rainstorm yet of the summer. It began raining late Wednesday afternoon and downpours are expected late this evening and into Thursday morning.
