Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics extended the 43-year-old's contract as head coach, announced the team on Wednesday. No detail of the deal was released.

"Brad is an accomplished coach and an outstanding person. We are proud to have him lead our team forward in our quest for Banner 18," said Wyc Grousbeck, lead owner and governor of the Celtics.

"We are thrilled that Brad Stevens will continue to be our coach. He has become one of the best coaches in the NBA, and is a real leader on and off the court. This is a great day for the Boston Celtics," said Steve Pagliuca, co-owner of the team.

"Brad is one of the most intelligent and hard-working coaches in the game today. More importantly, his character and integrity have contributed to a culture that we all highly value here. Brad is a great teammate, and a leader people want to follow. We are honored to have him with us as we continue to pursue our next championship," said Danny Ainge, president of Basketball Operations.

This is the seventh season Stevens coaching the team and he has been doing well. He led the Celtics to the playoffs six straight times, including twice to the Eastern Conference Finals. This year, the Celtics will meet the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs. Stevens' regular season record is 318-245, the fourth-most wins in franchise history after "Red" Auerbach (795), Tom Heinsohn (427) and Doc Rivers (416).

By the way, all three have helped Boston win NBA championships. Will Steven join them in the future?

On the same day, the Indiana Pacers also extended the contract of their head coach Nate McMillan by one more year.

"What Nate has done in four seasons with our franchise merits this extension. Between injuries and changes in personnel, he and his coaching staff have adapted and produced positive results. He also represents the franchise, the city and our state in a first-class manner," said Kevin Pritchard, president of Basketball Operations of the Pacers.

McMillan joined the team as the assistant coach in the 2013-14 season and took over as the head coach in the 2016-17 season. Having led the game to play 317 regular season games, McMillan led the Pacers to 181 wins. The team never missed the playoffs under McMillan and gave LeBron James quite a hard time in 2018.

The Pacers will meet the Miami Heat in the playoffs this year.
