Iran's confirmed that total cases rose to 336,324 on Thursday after an overnight registration of 2,625 new infections. The pandemic has so far claimed 19,162 lives in the country, up by 174 in the past 24 hours.
Russia registered 5,057 new cases in the past 24 hours, taking its total to 907,758. Meanwhile, 124 new deaths were reported, taking the nationwide toll to 15,384.
Turkey confirmed 1,212 new cases and 18 more deaths on Wednesday, raising the total diagnosed cases to 244,392 and the death toll to 5,891. The country will resume the academic year via distance learning programs and start face-to-face schooling on September 21.
Malaysia reported 15 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 9,129 with 125 deaths. Health officials also detected one new cluster of cases in Kedah state involving a group which had gathered for a religious event, with nine testing positive for the disease so far.
Indonesia's total confirmed cases rose by 2,098 in one day to 132,816, with the death toll adding by 65 to 5,968. A total of 1,760 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 87,558.
Kuwait on Thursday reported 701 new cases, raising the tally of infections to 74,486, including 489 deaths. The country started the third-phase of the plan of restoring normal life on July 28. During this phase, labor capacity will increase to no more than 50 percent and visits to social care homes will be allowed.
