China's Yangtze River saw its fourth flood peak of the year on its upper reaches on Friday morning after heavy rainfall led to rising water levels in its trunk streams and increased inflows into the Three Gorges reservoir.

Authorities predict that the reservoir will see a maximum inflow of 59,000 cubic meters per second at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.

In July, Yangtze River was hit with the third flood of 2020, which caused five deaths and left one person missing in Jianshi County in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of central China's Hubei Province.

Since June, heavy downpours have hit large parts of southern China, causing many rivers' water to exceed warning levels.
