Iran recorded 2,501 new cases during the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 338,825 on Friday, and the death toll from the virus in the country rose to 19,331 after 169 new deaths were added overnight.

Indonesia's total number of confirmed cases rose by 2,307 within one day to 135,123, with the death toll adding by 53 to 6,021. A total of 2,060 more people were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 89,618.

The Philippines reported 6,216 new cases with 16 more deaths on Friday, raising the total of confirmed cases to 153,660 with 2,442 deaths. Nearly 114,000 Filipinos of working age have contracted the virus.

Afghanistan confirmed 75 new cases and six more deaths, bringing the total number of patients in the country to 37,506, including 1,369 deaths. Local health experts believe that the actual number of infections could be much higher than the official figures as scores of patients did not visit hospitals, and there was no system to register them.

South Korea reported 103 more cases as of 0:00 a.m. Friday local time compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 14,873 with 305 deaths. Of the new cases, 18 were imported, lifting the combined figure to 2,618.
