Latest developments of COVID-19 around world 

Brazil registered 1,262 deaths from COVID-19 in 24 hours, raising the death toll to 105,463 since the virus was first detected in the country, the ministry of health announced on Thursday. A total of 60,091 new cases were reported, bringing the total number of infections to 3,224,876.

Chile on Thursday reported that 380,034 people had tested positive for COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic and 10,299 people had died from the disease. In the past 24 hours, tests detected 1,852 new cases and 94 more deaths were registered, according to the health ministry.

Mexico on Thursday surpassed half a million confirmed cases of COVID-19 after registering 7,371 new infections in 24 hours, authorities said. The country now has 505,293 cases overall, with 55,293 deaths, the ministry of health said.

Egypt's health ministry confirmed on Thursday 145 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of cases to 96,108. It was the 12th day in a row that daily infections were below 200. The daily tally had started exceeding 200 on April 23 and hit a record 1,774 cases on June 19. Twenty-two patients died from the novel coronavirus on Thursday, bringing the death toll to 5,107, while 989 others were cured and discharged from hospitals, increasing the total number of recoveries to 56,890.
