Shortage of guide dogs and qualified trainers in China
05:36

China has far fewer active guide dogs than many other countries, the latest data from the International Guide Dog Federation suggests. The country has only one national guide dog training center, a non-profit organization located in the northeastern city of Dalian. It usually takes six to eight months to train a dog, and the success rate is 50 percent. According to the center, the guide dog shortage is a result of a lack of qualified trainers and inadequate financial aid from both the government and private sector.
