VJ Day: China played an important role in setting back Axis powers
02:51

World War II embroiled nearly two-thirds of the global population, and 70 million people lost their lives. China, one of the earliest-hit countries, was a major frontline. It officially declared war on the Axis powers in December 1941, and soon formed an alliance with 25 other nations, vowing to end fascist expansions. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Japan Day. On August 15, 1945, Japan announced its surrender in World War II.
