Beijing Guoan wasted their 3-0 lead as they finished Sunday night's game with a 3-3 draw against Qingdao Huanghai. From the 18th to the 30th minute, Cedric Bakambu, Alan, and Hou Yongyong scored three goals for Beijing, establishing a seemingly safe lead. However, Qingdao managed to narrow the score difference down to one in the first half thanks to two goals by Romain Alessandrini and Zhu Jianrong. Then in the 72nd minute, Alessandrini broke Beijing's goal again with a fast long shot that reached the lower-left corner of the goal to make it 3-3. Beijing failed to get their fifth straight win while Qingdao finished five games with no win.
Guangzhou R&F achieved their first win in Group A after defeating Dalian Professional 1-0 on Sunday. Eran Zahavi scored the only goal for Dalian in the 30th minute with a penalty kick. The game was originally scheduled to happen on Saturday night but was postponed to Sunday by heavy rain in Dalian.
In the last game on Sunday night, the defending champions Shanghai SIPG failed to bring down Shijiazhuang Ever Bright but had to accept a 1-1 draw. Though Shanghai are the stronger side, Shijiazhuang scored first in the 50th minute via a header by Zang Yifeng. Eighteen minutes later, Hulk made it 1-1 for Shanghai via corner kick play. It should be pointed out that Marko Arnautovic scored two goals for Shanghai in the game, but both were canceled after the referee called offside. Shanghai missed the opportunity to match Beijing Guoan on the ranking table.
