Five-decade-old Mexican rock band El Tri plays for their fans at Toluca, Mexico on August 14. Fans watched the concert on top of their cars to adhere to pandemic safety measures.

"So much confinement has really made us all a little paranoid and in a bad mood. We have witnessed people on the street who turn violent and such things, so if we have a moment to be with family and enjoy a little time, well look, it is welcome," said Maria Dolores, a spectator at the site.

Spectators were singing along and dancing to the group's signature songs.

Everyone is staying at home, and you have the possibility of a drive-in concert, it's exciting, said Claudio Gobea, a shopkeeper who went to the concert.

Mexico has hit 510 thousand coronavirus cases so far, and over 56 thousand deaths, stands as the world's third-highest, behind the United States and Brazil.
