The United States remains the worst-hit nation globally – in terms of the number of COVID-19 cases and fatalities – with nearly 5.4 million infections and a death toll approaching 170,000. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that the death toll could hit 200,000 in weeks. Some fear the country isn't taking the threat of the virus seriously enough.
