Death Valley records highest earth temperature in over a century

Death Valley in California, U.S., records one of the highest temperatures ever, over 130 degrees Fahrenheit (about 54.4 degrees Celsius) by afternoon, August 16, 2020. /CFP

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, this may be the highest temperature on earth in over a century. The all-time high was also set at Death Valley, minus 56.7 degrees Celsius, on July 10, 1913. /CFP

The temperature will now be reviewed by scientists to ensure of no thermometer error before acceptance by the World Meteorological Organization. /CFP
