Guangzhou R&F defeated Shanghai Shenhua 3-2 on Wednesday night. Shanghai's defenders in the first half were doing everything but their job. As a result, Guangzhou scored three goals in 20 minutes between the 23rd and 43rd thanks to Eran Zahavi (2) and Dia Saba. Fortunately for Shanghai, Peng Xinli made 3-1 with a distance shot.

Shanghai launched waves of offense in the second half and, and in the 72nd minute, Yu Hanchao created a penalty kick which was made by Giovanni Moreno to narrow the score difference down to 3-2. However that was the last thing the team scored in the game before they watched their undefeated record of four straight games end.

Shandong Luneng claimed a 2-1 win over Henan Jianye on Wednesday, achieving their third win in a row. Moises scored first for Shandong with a remarkable volley in the 14th minute from the arc. Fourteen minutes later, Henrique Dourado broke into the penalty area and scored while tussling with the defender, making it 1-1 for Henan.

In the 71st minute, Henan's Zhang Wentao was caught committing handball, leading to a penalty kick for Shandong. However, Graziano Pelle's shot was denied by goalkeeper Wu Yan. Eleven minutes later, Shandong's Gu Tianyu was taken down by his defender when they were competing for a header. Shandong received another penalty kick and this time, Marouane Fellaini made the shot to help Shandong lead 2-1.

Thanks to Wednesday's win, Shandong was able to surpass Guangzhou Evergrande to lead Group A with one extra game played.
