China has allocated 460 million yuan (about 66.6 million U.S. dollars) in disaster relief funds for flood-hit Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, and Chongqing Municipality on Tuesday.

The funds, earmarked by the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) and the Ministry of Finance, will be used for flood-prevention and restoration of production and living order in the affected areas.

Since June, continuous downpours have lashed large parts of southern China, and water levels in many rivers in the affected regions have exceeded alert levels.
