South Korea has reported its highest number of daily new coronavirus infections since early March. It reported 297 new infections on Wednesday, the sixth day of triple-digit increases, bringing the total cases to over 16,000. Most of the new cases are in the capital Seoul with more than 450 linked to the Sarang Jeil Church. Health authorities have been trying to trace hundreds of members of the congregation to tell them to self-isolate. In-person church services have been banned in Seoul and its surrounding provinces, and indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited. Authorities said if the cases keep rising at the current rate, they might impose the highest level of social distancing rules.
