Two weeks ago, a cataclysmic explosion at the Port of Beirut ripped the Lebanese capital apart, leaving nearly 180 people dead, around 6,000 injured and about a quarter of a million people homeless. Authorities said the blast was caused by a fire igniting 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate left unsecured in a warehouse for six years.
