In Lebanon, 2,750 tons of abandoned ammonium nitrate in a warehouse at the port in capital Beirut exploded, killing 177 people, and devastating swathes of the city. World Central Kitchen, a non-profit founded by Spanish-American celebrity chef José Andrés, works to provide meals to people affected by natural disasters. Now, it has mobilized its volunteers and chefs to work with restaurants in Beirut and prepare meals for first responders, hospitals, charities, and families affected by the deadly explosion.
