Typhoon Higos makes landfall in S China

Typhoon Higos, the seventh typhoon of the year, made landfall on the coast of Zhuhai City, south China's Guangdong Province at around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday. /VCG

China's Central Meteorological Station issued an orange alert and predicted Higos to move northwest at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour and gradually weaken. /VCG

The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau downgraded the typhoon signal from the highest to No. 3 as it left the city. /CCTV

The Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 northeast gale or storm signal on Tuesday night and closed all land ports connecting Zhuhai and Macao. /VCG
