Transparent public toilets illuminated like colored lanterns and with other daring architectural designs have begun to proliferate through the streets and parks of Tokyo.

Designed by a Pritzker Prize-winning architecture firm, the two sets of toilets, located in Tokyo's Shibuya district, are part of the newly launched Tokyo Toilet Project.

Seventeen public toilets will be renovated by the summer of 2021 as planned.
