In an eye-catching game of Group B on Saturday night, the defending champions Shanghai SIPG came back to defeat Beijing Guoan 2-1, putting an end to the opponent's undefeated record this season.

Over1,900 fans were allowed to attend the game. In the 14th minute, Cedric Bakambu scored first for Beijing thanks to the assist by Wang Gang. However, Beijing's lead only lasted for 14 minutes. Shanghai passed the ball into the penalty area via a free-kick before unguarded Wang Shenchao made it 1-1 for his team with a header.

Beijing came close, getting a penalty kick in the first half. In the 35th minute, Wang Gang was tackled down by Chen Linlin. Referee Ma Ning first called it a penalty but then changed it into a free-kick after communicating with the video assistant referee (VAR). Beijing failed to score with the kick.

In the 77th minute, Marko Arnautovic received the ball around the arc. Instead of penetrating, he passed the ball to Oscar with a gentle heel kick. Oscar then broke Yu Dabao's goal fo Shanghai, helping his team lead 2-1 and win the game.

Two winless teams in Group B, Qingdao Huanghai, and Tianjin TEDA met on Saturday. After 90 minutes of competition, newly-promoted Qingdao claimed their first victory (2-0) in the Super League, thanks to the two goals scored by Zhu Jianrong and Zhou Junchen in the first half. As for Tianjin, the appointment of new manager Wang Baoshan did not change the team's luck.
