A couple of bird watchers expressed their concern on the migratory bird's condition. But Li Li, founder of Black Leopard, an animal rescue NGO based in Beijing, said that the bird could still survive as long as both of its wings are healthy.

Li guessed that the bird could have been hurt by a large bird of prey.

The gull migrates to east China's Bohai Bay every March to breed. During the mating season, males' heads turn black to attract females.
