The Mekong River is the world's eighth longest river, flowing through China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. In China, it's called the Lancang River. For centuries, it's been a source of cooperation and also a subject of contention, especially in recent decades when China began building hydropower stations on its upper reaches. During the third Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting on Monday, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang announced China will share the annual hydrological information of the Lancang River with Mekong countries starting from this year, to better address climate change as well as floods and droughts. This marks an important step in the Lancang-Mekong cooperation. CGTN is joined by leading hydrological experts to talk about the issue.
