Beirut's shattered glass finds new use
00:51

Following the biggest blast to hit the Lebanese capital, a recycling initiative is transforming glass shattered across the city into jugs, jars, and other glassware. Under a recycling initiative, a group of volunteers collects glass from the blast site, loads it onto trucks, and delivers it to glass factories in Tripoli.

Organizers say there's an economic benefit to the project too. They offer the glass to factories for free and receive funds to hire additional employees to help with the sorting process. The project is funded by individual donors and will continue as long as there is glass to collect or until funds run out.
