ASEAN economic ministers discuss East Asia cooperation in virtual meetings

A series of economic ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation will be held via video link from August 27 to 28 and Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shan will be in attendance, China's Ministry of Commerce announced on Thursday.

Scheduled are the 19th China-ASEAN (10+1) Economic Ministers' Meeting, the 23rd ASEAN-China-Japan-South Korea (10+3) Economic Ministers' Meeting, and the 8th East Asia Summit (EAS) Economic Ministers' Meeting.

The meetings are set to discuss critical issues such as strengthening economic and trade relations between China and ASEAN and regional countries in the "post-COVID-19 era," promoting economic integration in East Asia and the whole world, and maintaining the multilateral trading system.

Economic and trade ministers from the 10 ASEAN member states and their counterparts from important dialogue partners, including Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, the United States, and Russia, will engage in the high-level discussions on economic cooperation.
