Huang Wenxiu was a Party secretary tasked with alleviating poverty in Baini Village, Leye County, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. On June 17, 2019, the 30-year-old died in a flash flood on her way back to the village. During her stay in the village, which lasted for over a year, she led 418 villagers out of poverty. As of March 2020, only 36 people in Baini Village remain under the poverty line. The target of achieving zero poverty that Huang dreamed of is just around the corner.
