[Brief translation of the post]

"For most people, yesterday may just be an ordinary Qixi Festival, but for me, it was an extraordinarily important day. I was in the middle of the crowd and I could hardly move on Beijing subway line 14, just like any other usual during morning rush hour. And I suddenly felt someone touching my butt. But because there were too many people, all I could do at that time was turn around and try to look for the pervert. I was angrily staring at that man and thought about yelling at him. I hesitated because there were so many people and I didn't have evidence.

At this time, a middle-aged man squeezed to my side through the crowd while people were getting off, showed me his ID with a shining police badge. "We are the police. We witnessed what has just happened here. Do you want to report him?" he asked. I told him, "definitely!"

He and another undercover police officer immediately handcuffed that man, who harassed me. And today, the police told me the man would be detained for 10 days.”

Under this post, many netizens applauded the undercover police for their work in trying to keep women and the public, in general, safe.

@ymiriii: It was so lucky to have undercover police around.

@yunxiaonuan: I have witnessed undercover police catching a subway pervert once. They showed the ID and left their contact information to the victim. It was awesome!

@xiaoqiangkui: The command "Action" literally made me tear up when I read the post!

Tracking, spotting, and catching perverts on the subway is the mission of the Beijing pervert-hunting team in action since June 2017 June.

This summer, the capital city has 32 pervert-hunting teams on duty to detect and prevent sexual harassment on busy Beijing subway lines. According to the police station in Songjiazhuang, one of the teams has already caught over 40 offenders for the first half of 2020.

Sexual harassment incidents in public transportation have seasonal characteristics. As the weather turns hotter, incidents increase. According to data quoted by The Paper, the number of sexual harassment cases in public transportation during the summer represents 42.3 percent of the annual total.

The case shared on Weibo is actually a lucky exception in which the police caught the offender at the scene. In most cases, undercover police officers need to spend a lot of time tracking and collecting evidence. Their action can't always be quick.

Behind the delightful ending of this case on line 14 is the continuous weaving of a pervert-hunting network in Beijing. A 10-day detention period is aligned with the "zero tolerance" policies to protect people on public transportation.
