A 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit off Vallenar, Chile at 0409 GMT on Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicenter was recorded at a depth of 10 km, said the USGS.
No tsunami warning has been issued so far.
